Friday, December 27, 2002

Last day at work and last whole day in the country. Spent all of yesterday cleaning and packing, how much work can it be to tidy a one bedroom flat for #@?!s sake, oh well is almost done now. My birthday and christmas were cool, went to Greenwich for a last look round on my birthday and then caught up with a few friends for drinks in the evening at The George. Clare (Emma's sister ) and Lisa (My sister ) came over for Christmas arriving on Christmas Eve and we are all about a Stone heavier after eating far too much of Emmas yummy cooking.

Saturday, December 21, 2002

Well only 1 more day at work, we fly out a week tomorrow, we had our work leaving do lastnight so there are a load of sore heads in the office. The leaving do was good, it was nice to catch up with people who I haven't seen for a while and probably wont see for a few years.

Sunday, December 15, 2002

Well its been about two weeks since I last had a chance to blog and its also two weeks till we fly out, wahoo wahoo. OK so over the last two weeks we seem to have been either drinking, hungover or a sleep went and stayed with Fran and James in Alton had a yummy dinner and got to see there new house, had dinner with Jane and Richard and then with Dave and Lucy, the christmas party on tuesday finally managed to catch up with David Maurice on Thursday then had leaving drinks with a load of friends in covent garden last night, needless to say Emma and I spent today lying round doing sod all today. It beginning to get more than a little weird now, we still haven't finished packing, ok we haven't really started yet , we had our last day at work with Ash on friday and wont see some people again until either we come back up here or they come down and visit.

Tuesday, December 03, 2002

Spent the weekend in Brighton with some of Emmas friends, Emma, Ali,Phil and Andy, stayed at Emma and Andy's cool flat in Kemp town. Got there on Saturday afternoon and had a lax evening of yummy food and too much wine. On Sunday all woke up rather late and went for a wander to the Tin Drum and had a rather greasy breakfast, although if you are going to go, stay clear of there mushrooms, they taste strange.Muppet

Saturday, November 30, 2002

Borris Johnson was the presenter of Have I got News for You lastnight, I think he was probably the best so far although I'm not sure if it would be brilliant if he was always presenting, get Jonathan Ross I say. Looks like they are all lining up to have a go, but will we see our Tony, I think not. Check out who directed the latest James bond.

Friday, November 29, 2002

Went for drinks lastnight for Cathys birthday, was cool, yummy beer and wine from a micro brewery in Covent Garden. Just found this and this.

Thursday, November 28, 2002

Just found this this.
saw bond on monday, it was good well worth it, the best of the recent bond movies. A month to go, woooo.

Thursday, November 14, 2002

Well we lost the rugby, boooo. Also for the first time in 25 years ( ish ) the fire fighters in England have gone on strike for 48 hours with strikes later on for 8 days, no one play with matches. Also a guy has been freed after 25 years in jail. What do you say, sorry ummmmm yeah 1/3 of your life in jail, ummm yeah, here is a fiver. Anyway, its getting towards the sharp end of the year, not sure if Emma and I have a free weekend before we fly out, mwaaaa. Getting very excited about the move, wanna get there now, find a job and start enjoying it (before anyone says anything, yes I will miss people here).

Friday, November 08, 2002

Thursday, November 07, 2002

34 days of work left, wahoo wahoo, will miss people at work, but wahoo wahoo. All Blacks play England on saturday I guess if I had my shit together I would be going to see them so I don't might try and nip to a pub and watch.

Friday, November 01, 2002

Emma and I went for a wander to Leighton House today, wonderful day, nice and crisp. Leighton house was brillant although one would imagine not that amazing to live in. On the way to the tube we even managed to find me a fleece type jacket. It is a Mac Pac Vapour Jacketwhich, seems warm enough, isn't too bulky or hot so I may even wear it more than once. This is it.

Thursday, October 31, 2002

Righto, remembered what I was going to say before. Emma's friend Jane is over from US for a week so we went out for dinner on monday night, we met up at her hotel, went for a few drinks in a near by bar and ended up at Pescatori for some nosh, was most yummy. Had to go into work on tuesday for half a day to help out Ash, as there was a bit of a server crisis, it all seems under control now but was a bit of a hassle ( Massive under statement) . It does however continually surprise me how little some people think before opening there mouths in a time of total panic, anyway glad I was only in for half a day. After my wee jaunt back to work Emma and I went for lunch at L 'Escargot , was most yummy and I would recomend eating there yum yum yum.

Wednesday, October 30, 2002

Booooo Blogger was hacked the other day. Emma and I are having a week off bumming round London seeing as we may not be here for much longer ( 2 Months till we go, almost to the day).

Tuesday, October 22, 2002

Went to Neela and Steves last night, to say hello and see the new pad. After all the warnings about the wallpaper and carpets, it was a bit of a let down, the patterns are a bit odd and the carpet colours are interesting, but nothing as bad as Neela had made out. The evening started out normal enough but after a few drinks we ended up comparing each others heights by drawing on the walls, I don't think steve was very impressed, but I guess they wont be loosing there bond :D. Neela made lots of yummy food so everyone is a lot fatter now, mostly veggie and very bloody hot. Then Mitl gave Emma and I a lift back into london in her spunky new Peugeot 206, which was nice of her.

Sunday, October 20, 2002

Went to Clare and Als lastnight for dinner, was cool to catch up haven't seen them for a while, ended up playing all together to much Virtua Fighter 4(Hmmm you may wanna find an English link). Lisa is in London this weekend so she came by this morning and we all went for a wander round, ended up going to St James park then to Cabient War rooms, which was kinda cool, although the women on the desk was a total mutt, ability to talk to people, nooooooooooooooooo.

Tuesday, October 15, 2002

Bloody hell Emma just sent me this, needless to say I dont think I'll be buying any of the booze for a bit.

Monday, October 14, 2002

More Brilliance from Will, check it, amazing what you can find on the web, in Wills words ""Imagine Destiny's Child were northern and made of cat..."
Was looking round for a few thinks and found this article at Software Reality, looks like a good site and an interesting article. Once again it looks as though anything that people say is clever we don't do it as a company, boo suck.

Sunday, October 13, 2002

Hmmm no blog for a bit, my uncles partner died last week, totally unexpected and very shitty, anyway mum is taking the funeral on Monday, She is a braver person than I. Anyway onto happier things, saw the Dallaways on Thursday night, which was fabulous , calling Jane and Richard The Dallaways was a cheap attempt to get out of a bit of typing, not sure if it will catch on or no. anyway, back to Thursday night, we meet up at revolution for a few drinks, a small nibble and a look through Jane and Richards wedding photos, although being the slack ass I am I only got through about half of them while others power looked through them all, booo. Anyway after that we went to the Akbar to a friend of Richards pre-show party for anjali, which was cool, felt like shit the next day after drinking to much, although it was all very yummy.

Sunday, October 06, 2002

We have just finished watching Parkinson on BBC 1, whose guests were Robin Williams and comedian Stephen Fry, both of whom I love to watch, Robin Williams is so quick and has sooo much energy he is brilliant, and Fry is just a wonderful man. Anyway have spent just about all of today in bed after going out to dinner with some of Emmas friends and ending up in some Shisha club, where we had to wait for the Hamiltons to leave before we could get a table. Anyway we were both very hungover today. ummm yeah.

Tuesday, October 01, 2002

See its not my fault, a link from Rich D, mwaaa ha ha ha ha ha .
Righto, I'm case your are interested Jack Ruby Killed Oswald and Sirhan Sirhan Robert Kennedy. If you needed a reason to watch Superbikes over F1, it was made clear when in the last race of the year, even when Edwards could settle for second and there was f all chance of Bayliss winning ( the championship), they were both racing hard nuts, it was fucking brilliant, unlike F1, which was once again staged, load of arse.

Tuesday, September 24, 2002

Oh please be true, Futurama as a PS2 game, wahoo wahoo. Now if only they would bring out season 2 and 3 on DVD.
Panorama, 8 parts bullshit pandering to bush, 2 parts sense, oh dear oh dear, I wouldn't have thought the bbc could produced such crap, oh well.

Saturday, September 21, 2002

Righto before anyone gets arsey I know absinth doesn't make the heart grow stronger, but fonder. It probably does neither, on my 4th now so it's just making me burble shite, like I've just found the top of a bottle of Pelorus ( Cloudy Bay), and before you worry dears it was vintage , none of the common stuff, narf narf, sorry. Amazing I looked out the window about 2 hours ago expecting it to be completely dead and there were hundreds of people outside, living in the centre of London can throw you, wasn't that loud, right must be sleep time now.
This is not going to be most lucid blog ever as I'm on my 3rd Absinth, and it's not true Absinth doesn't make the heart grow stronger it appears to make the eyes grow worse and the nose pick (bad pun, yes, yes) up on the weirdest smells. I'm going to forecast that it will not make me the most popular person in the flat. I have the rest of this blog in Open Office till I can get it checked for wild incorrectness and other such misgivings, so nigh, nigh, gunna leave you with this cos it is cool and has made us both happy in an otherwise shite week, ta ra.

Tuesday, September 17, 2002

Emma and I have just finished watching the first episode of Ultimate Force some of the dialogue seems a bit crap but it looks like it will be a bit of fun.
Arse, just lost 15 minutes of blogging double arse, righto, briefy drunk, wednesday through friday (very very),saturday at a birthday / house warming, friends of Emmas, really really nice, friends and house. Back to the wedding, got to meet more of Richard and Janes friends and catch up with some I have already met, really cool. After a very yummy dinner, there was the maddest Jazz band, with five of the most different people you could imagine, but by god they could play. Emma and I ended up going to bed about midnight 1ish, and surprise, surprise woke up in the morning feeling really good, AND remember all of the previous day, I can highly recommend it as a way to spend a wedding. However Steve was up till 4 so wasn;t so good :D, that didn't stop Emma, myself, Neela and Steve going for a wander around the village and out across someones farm, then back into the village to a cool little pub for lunch, which was fucking amazing country pub food is about 98 billion times better than london pub food. Oh yeah our room was f huge and really nice, ok I may update this a bit at a later stage so it makes sense.

Monday, September 09, 2002

It was Richard and Janes wedding this weekend just been, Emma and I caught the train up on Saturday morning with Neela and Steve. Surprisingly even though we had a change trains everything went without a hitch and we got our hotel in a heap of time. We stayed at the Londesborough Arms, which was also the location of the reception, which is a brilliant idea. Jane and Rich put on a bus to and from the church, the service was cool I'm not a churchy person, even so I enjoyed it, Jane and Rich both looked really great and from the guest point of view it was a relaxed nice service without the heavy god bit that you can have at weddings. More later...
Oh thanks to Lisa for pointing out that I can't spell my own name, it may now be fixed.

Friday, September 06, 2002

Will has just sent me a link to the World RPS Society, it's mad.
Found this on /., very cool.
Put cave into Source Forge this morning, at the moment its only in cvs, will hopefully figure out the rest some time next week, anyway wahoo wahoo.

Wednesday, September 04, 2002

Righto a new version of cave is out, I've changed the way settings work and hopefully fixed a little bug with the level selection at the start-up, thanks to Rich and Rich for the bug finding and UI tweaks.

Monday, September 02, 2002

Just finished watching Notting Hill on Channel 4 with Emma. I haddn't seen it before, It's was really cool I haven't laughed like that for sooo long, it was brilliant.
Ok, haven't blogged for a while, and this is probably gunna be short cos I'm totally buggered, watched the Super Bikes, Clare and Al came over last night after going flat hunting after the flat they were going to move into on friday fell through about 6 hours before they were meant to move in, hmmmm headline "flat own gets knee capped, judge lets cappers off, warns flat owner not to be such a wanker". Thursday night went to the boardwalk (link somewhere else and I can't be arsed finding it now) and were having fun until Emmas bag walked out with someone else, people that lift stuff should have there goolies cut off with a soldering iron. Oh went to Luigi's on ummm wednesday or tuesday or, no no it must have been one of those two, anyway there were these people at another table who kept running up to the speaker and putting there phone next to it ( and dialing a number ) and then a sms would arrive and it would be all the details of the music playing, artist album etc, and you could buy it from there site. blah blah blah.

Tuesday, August 27, 2002

Righto there is a new version of Cave up on my website for downloading.

Saturday, August 24, 2002

Emma and I just walked back from tesco's and saw the most amazing thing, it was raining on our street but not where we were, kinda cool being able to see the rain and walking into it. I'm sounding like a stoner, maybe you had to be there. Right seeing as two people have now asked, we are moving to Oz, no we aren't planning on getting married, I'm not sure why moving to a new country infers marriage, but there you go.

Thursday, August 22, 2002

Went out for drinks with people from work for Wills birthday lastnight, started at board walk and ended up at form again, was cool. Emma couldn't make it cos she was feeling totally buggered which was a bit shite.

Wednesday, August 21, 2002

From the mail server:

The wombat lives across the seas,
Among the far Antipodes.
He may exist on nuts and berries,
Or then again, on missionaries;
His distant habitat precludes
Conclusive knowledge of his moods.
But I would not engage the wombat
In any form of mortal combat.
-- "The Wombat"

And I just saw a link to this.
Rich installed Cave on his phone last night, looks good, already have a couple of updates that hopefully I'll have done tonight, wahoo wahoo. Also added a wap site, ok page, so it's easier to install via a phone, the address is wap.jonoabroad.com.

Saturday, August 17, 2002

Well we have finally told everyone (ok some people) at work that we are leaving. I can't believe it's only four months to go,about time to start looking for work I guess. Clare and Al came over for dinner last night, was cool to see them, managed to not drink an insane amount, which is good. About to go for a walk and spend some money then its out into the sun, it's meant to get to 33 today so its going to be crazy. Righto.

Thursday, August 15, 2002

What a brilliant night, apart from the hell that was the Wednesday update and our XML data store being shite, went to the George for a few, then decided to look around for somewhere new and found form which was soo cool, fucking amazing Hip-Hop, New York styles from 80s/90s insane break dancing, fucking brilliant. From there we went onto some place playing lounge / Jazz, which was well laid back and wicked, this is how Soho living should be, fucking Brill. Ooo also discovered a load fun using a mobile and predicative texting.
Oh and from My West Minster Noel[1] lives round here, hmmm haven't seen him much.
[1] Noel.

Wednesday, August 14, 2002

Well it's half twelve and I can't sleep so I may as well blog now rather than the morning. Emma and I took Monday off and had a long weekend, and and saw her parents, my god rail in this country is crap. One reason to come back on the Monday rather than Sunday was that there is line maintenance from Now till the end of the year on every weekend, with means ever train journey to the north west is broken with an hour bus trip, needless to say the train companies were saying it would only add an hour or so to the journey, however if you believe this look outside there are pigs flying. It was however nice to be out of London and as always wonderful and relaxing to see them, even if we have both eaten and drunken what we would normally consume in two week in 3 days. Oh yes and the clan gets bigger Mike and Trish had a baby girl, Sophie Patricia, 7 lb 4 oz born at 5 past 12 on Monday morning so wahoo wahoo, hopefully we hear more from Lisa at some stage. Back to staying at Emma's parents, it was sooooooooo nice to be somewhere without constant noise, in fact quite the opposite, almost constant silence and by god its refreshing, means you can really relax. Oooo spoke to Dad on his birthday last week, he and mum been out to dinner and both sounded good, which is cool. One last thing about rail coming back on monday it was a direct train, no stops and they were still 25 minutes late on a journey that was meant to take 2 and half hours, how, how how, the "train manager" said it was due to speed restrictions, but surely they knew of these before the train left our station, when they gave our ETA, the restrictions have only been in place for about 2 months, grrrr.

Friday, August 09, 2002

Dijkstra is dead, booo.

Thursday, August 08, 2002

Thieves are getting dumber and dumber.

Wednesday, August 07, 2002

Out drinking lastnight, and just had two bacon and egg sandwiches and instead of being at the beginning of the day I should really be getting back into bed and going to sleep for a few hours. However to sort out a few things about Mt Rushmore, the Presidents are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln, its Located in Keystone, South Dakota. I want one of these how cool is that, of course not quite as cool as one of these.
Well we are back to the hell of Excelon, I mean we are only using it as a glorified operating system and for searching over 2500 ~3K documents AND it goes tits up, ummmm hello, never pay for XML Store espically when its totally crap. Use open source look here if you want something thats probably good look here, baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Monday, August 05, 2002

Ok this was at the bottom of a weekly email I get from a friend ::

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
If you have a bloodstained knife in your pocket, are you carrying a congealed weapon?

Sunday, August 04, 2002

Went to Jane and Richards combined hen and stag do yesterday in Brighton for a day of kitsch on the pier, it was loads of fun, playing crazy golf, arcade games and going on some of the rides. We then all wandered up to a restaurant part way up the hill for dinner. Emma and I only hung round for a drink as we are both feeling coldy and completely buggered, which was a shame it would have been nice to stay for dinner and have been able to more of a chat with people. We had a fun day anyway so thanks Jane and Rich. Sports wise I see in the herald that the All Blacks lost to the Wallabies, I really don't see them being a good team for a few more years yet, boo suck.

Friday, August 02, 2002

ooooooooooooo almost forgot Rich also sent this This, so if you not short of advertising space you could be in to make some money, sorry I'll put a sock on it now. Although it could be the first time of someone getting fired for not having enough advertising space.
Just got back from Lunch for Kates (A women at work) leaving do, was nice went to Soho Thai, then to revolution for a quick drink. Anyway was a package from the register when I got back to my desk, which turned out to be a BOFH t-shirt, Rich got it cos I was bitching about, Sys Admin Day too much at work, Sooooo thank you Rich, see it does pay to make yourself heard. :D Lunch was great, haven;t been out for a a long lunch in a while, was yummy and good to sit down and natter with everyone.

Wednesday, July 31, 2002

Emma and I went to Pret at for lunch and Tom Baker was sitting next to us. No scarf though, I guess he was traveling in disguise. Oh and to lower the tone this from Ms Fothergill.
Its hot as hell at the moment, although its meant to be cooler than yesterday, it was 33 yesterday and its not much less today, ummmm yeah, right I'm just looking for a reason not to read Richards crypto book at the moment which is why I'm dribbling into my blog so I'm going to go read about authenication wooooooo. But before I go, I found this and I want some, I dunno why, just do. Ok, just remember what I was going to talk about, I was coming out of Pret with lunch and their was a car parked up on the footpath with a hood up and water everywhere in front of the car, the water had gone about 2 or 3 metres. Do people not know to leave radiators alone when their car is dying of heat exhaustion, poor car.

Monday, July 29, 2002

Ok, looooooooooooooooooong weekend, friday night went for work drinks for a features editor and ended up at a pub north of Oxford street and bumbed into a guy I went to school with, everyone sing "its a small world after all" Saturday I wasn't feeling to crash hot, but managed to get out of bed and make my way to Lisas for a BBQ, it was really really good got to catch up with a couple of cousins and friend of the family and meet some people Lisa works with. I was really nice to be out of London and into the fresh air, Lisa has horses and peacocks in the paddocks across the road from her cottage and while we were all sitting round in the back yard there were wood pidegons in the trees and then later when it was dark bats, sooo cool. I was sooo relaxing to have an evening without sirens and drunken bastard outside the window. Came back about lunchtime today after chatting briefly with Dad. Emma and I have just got back (ok about an hour ago) from "A Romantic Journey with the Queen of Sheba", which was put on by the British Museum, Philharmonia Orchestra,National Theatre and Barclays. It was brillant, it was set up in the courtyard of the Museum and went from 7:30 to 10:00, it was a mix of music pieces and readings. It breaks in the music for the readings worked well and gave you a chance to take it all in, and vice versa, the final piece was the Indiana Jones music, with the maddest light show you have ever seen, wonderous, righto I look through this tomorrow and add full stops etc, night night.

Thursday, July 25, 2002

All I have to say is show me your love.
Rich T sent me this, I'd forgotten that Shaun had sent it off. Went out for drinks last night with Rich D and briefly Jane, before going for more drinks with a couple of ex-EGiers, it was good but by god I have been feeling like pooh today.

Tuesday, July 23, 2002

Emma and I went round to Claire and Als lastnight for dinner, Als just got a Dance Mat, did think much of the dancing, although that could be because I have two left feet, however using it to control Grand Turismo now there is fun an a full abb work out, dont buy for the dancing buy for the driving. Claire made a cool green curry, was yum and they both seem good. Righto back to the grindstone, oooooooooooooooo Al had a good idea for another MIDlet app, my work is coming alone slowly need to get my cave source on to jonoabroad and then finish my rms work so I can finish some more apps.

Wednesday, July 17, 2002

Why microsoft Suck so much.

Tuesday, July 16, 2002

For the love of sweet Jesus its not a fast scanner, then again it is an active X control running in an IE window, hmmm that last bit makes me think I'm mad, who the hell would run a virus scanner that uses active X AND IE, probably a virus installer, maybe you shouldn't do this at 1/4 to 2 in the morning.
Can't sleep, so instead of annoying Emma I thought I'd come and surf for a bit, and for those who may want to know I'm wearing pants ( underwear in other parts of the world), so no cold chair syndrome this morning. Trying an online virus scanner called active scan by panda software so far its found one virus which is a shit, but also why I'm trying it out. Hmmm forgotten what I was going to say, oh yeah amazing how at night your mind can wander, mine usually to the negative and how quickly your mood can change by rolling over and watching the person next too you sleeping, just the sound of them breath, rad. Oh good one the virus I think I have comes from Spain and guess which server my online virus scanner has connected to .es, oh wahoo wahoo.

Monday, July 15, 2002

Had a dream about smoking last night and by god it was good. Smoked the whole thing before realizing I wasn't meant to be smoking, small amount of guilt, lots of pleasure and hopefully little or no risk of cancer, wahoo wahoo.
Nurgel, Sunday night can't sleep yet so I'm here to talk pooh, for a while, Emma got back from Spain safe, brown and totally tired from work so Friday was pretty quiet, which was cool, oh got her flowers as a welcome home thing, 3 foot tall Sun flowers, very cool, although you do get some weird looks walking down Old Compton Street with a bunch of Sun flowers ;). Saturday we caught up with Claire, Emma's sister for her birthday and went to a pub on a park in Mile End, it was a hot day so spent most of the day wandering back and forth getting beer and lying round. Had a really cool day Emma got so drunk, not quiet sure how she managed to have no trace of a hangover this morning. Today we woke up lateish and wandered down to St James park via M & S to get a small picnic, lay round all day reading and sleeping, was nice. Got back and Emma made the most amazing Salad with blue cheese and smoked salmon, yum yum.

Friday, July 12, 2002

Class

Neela just sent me this, not good when your hungover.
Got this from Fish, its where I went to uni. Emma is back from Spain tonight wahoo wahoo wahoo. I went to a Lonix meeting last night and drunk far too much feeling like a cup of cold sick this morning, not good, not good. Looks like its been raining back home.

Thursday, July 11, 2002

Righto, hopefully got my last page changed over now, some of it still needs tweaking. Jesus I need a sleep didn't get to sleep till after 3,booo zzzzz. Righto back to work.
Can Publish, can publish, seat still unpleasant.
So, can't publish, can't sleep wonderful, sleeping pill, useful for killing yourself, well at least in the movies, and would be really useful at quarter past two in the morning when you just wanna sleep. Well I think bar my blog archive I have my site moved to the new layout now all I need is content :D I dunno if I can be bothered reading this but yay and about time, next decriminalise, how many people do you see coming out of a grass bar and starting a fight. Also if there are more stoned people in the world I will seem brighter :D. Righto I'm off stare at the ceiling again, but let me leave you with this thought, don't sit on plastic chairs naked, they are cold, really really cold, its not pleasant at all.
Ok, I'm trying a new look on my blog, will roll it out to my site as soon as I can.

Wednesday, July 10, 2002

Oooooo The Star Cafe has a website. Saw Merial lastnight for dinner, its only 4 weeks till she leaves for New Zealand, not long now.

Tuesday, July 09, 2002

Read the Disclaimer then get the littlest hobo, get in there with you old TV show tunes ! that is all.

Monday, July 08, 2002

Righto and back from the madness of last nights post, saw this on /., not cool if you don't wanna run a graphically heavy OS like XP,for the desktop wahoo wahoo, all rejoice you need less brain cells than a fly to use the OS, but for a server, boo boo boo, now need a 95 GB graphics card and an extra 1/2 GB RAM to use the OS, without an app server installed boo.
Hmmm if anyone reads my blog and doesn't like my language, email me or post a comment. ok, fuck me one is crying because a cow she has seen 4 times in 2 weeks may die and there is a guy saying "get a new cow, my family drinks lots of milk, I need a lot of milk", pathetic as Emma would say. Rigged, so fucking rigged, mwaaaaaaaa do they even know what the real world is ?
ok Channel 4 seems to be down at the moment, however I've had the TV on in the background with Frontier House, a couple of things, Americans don't do some things well, real drama (ok I like ER and West Wing, compared to english drama I mean) and programs like frontier house, I mean they aren't even living in the "age" and they are already bitching. They are being crap, no make up, can't cope, the guns aren't real American, can't cope. One funny thing that was said," In the Blah century interracial marriages were not accepted, oh like they are now in most of the world ? HELLO, oh and some silly bitch has just cried because she wasn't allowed to wear make up, child. Okay now someone is trying to take a hair drier, ummmmm WHAT WORLD DO THEY LIVE IN, fuck me, brainless is too kind, oh and I'm missing Emma lots and it maybe coming out in some different ways :D.

Sunday, July 07, 2002

Righto you can now add comments, I'm using
weblog commenting.
This would be good, at least then when people are fucking me off at work I could go down a server and play a bit of Tricky and chill.
Rich pointed out a Story Will wrote about Hacktivismo, looks good I need to read more when I've slept for about a week, I've also just seen this which looks cool and once again will read about properly once I've slept for a week.

Righty now that I've had some sleep,Pizza Express and theirJazz thing.
ok last thing, the least cool thing to see on blogger "Sorry, publishing is temporarily unavailable". :(
Hmmm ok I'll really goto bed now, not sure if its a good thing or bad thing to do quizes (sp?) outside of company time.

How random are you?

this quiz was made by alanna

Wanna go wake up Emma, wont win me any brownie points, maybe I'll try Dave (evil grin)
eeeeeeeeeek just looked at my server logs and another blog is in my stats, Has me down as a favourite blog, by god I thought this was all for me,Rich, Jane and very some times Mum, must be a random blog generator :D. Found this also. It would appear my inner Baa is

Which flock do you follow?

this quiz was made by alanna

and if any of these last couple of blog are a) here in the morning b) anywhere near valid html. I'm gunna poo myself, take care all and Moose.
Just got back from Ronnie Scott's, wicked evening amazing music, I wish Emma had been able to go, however I;m glad she decided to stay home. There are a couple of reasons, first, typical English yobs for part of it behind us making a load of noise, it's Jazz, not a good time for loads of beer and MATE, quiet conversation if any, second, we settled up the bill and I was the only person to leave a tip AND a friend of a friend of my Lisa's tried to pick it up saying it was a waste of money, ummmmm HELLO if I want to burn my money it's mine I'll do with it as I please, second you tip waiting staff its kinda the done thing, even when you pay 25 to get in, fuck me. Baaaaaaaaaaa comments on whether you think I'm wrong or right to Contact,Righto I'm off to say hello to Emma and go to sleep. Needless to say I LOVED the Jazz and can't wait to take Emma there and also go to the Pizza Express up the road and see what it's like, Ok Emma has just pointed out that people may not know that Pizza Express also has a Jazz club thing going on downstairs, so err it has a Jazz club downstairs, ya know now :D. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO had some more Ideas for Java projects that need to be put on my site, also Rich T found that I can have free Google searching on my web site. I've signed up for it but seeing as I have about 10 pages including blog I'm in no hurry to get it up there, although that could be me being a lazy arse. Oh yeah the Java spurt comes on the back of Emma going to Spain for the week on Sunday, which is pants because I'm going to miss her terribly and have been thinking about things to fill my time and also Rich D sent me a brilliant idea for an application that could/should/will sell and would be fun, wahoo, wahoo, wahoo. Righto have now noticed I'm just ranting so I'm gunna sign off and I'll fix any big errors tomorrow or the next day, Moose

Friday, July 05, 2002

Oh yeah, almost forgot we won again this year, will try and find a link tomorrow at some stage, wonderbar or wonder bra even, take ya pick. Moose.
Just got back from the Net Media awards, It was, I'm told smaller than last year, but was still cool and as a non-journo I felt welcome, even if they didn't have enough booze :D. Ended up at porter house for a while then walkabout, will write more when I'm less likely to libel people. Moose and I met Dave Green of ntk, which is cool. Hmm it would appear that Moose is the new Moo for you fashion victims. Night Night.

Will Just sent me a Link to a new Linux distro and based on Larry I'm thinking of using it :D. Righto went out for dinner last night with Tom and Julia, was cool to catch up with them again, haven't seen them in ages, went to the Persian place round the road from our flat, really relaxed place always does great food, was cool. I was thinking about setting up a multi-user blog instead of using the current geek mailing list, I just get the feeling that people wouldn't look at it on a regular enough basis, maybe if you could have the blog and have a automatic job that fires off an email to the people instead, something to think about anyway. Updated jonoabroad yesterday so email points at my domain rather than my hotmail, set up mime types so that the jad file does its stuff, Thanks to both Riches for that, D and T.

Dont you hate that moment just before you sit on the toilet and you suddenly realize youre not sure if the seat is down or not, it was by the way.

Tuesday, July 02, 2002

Hmmm take my advice, don't wake up early and dont listen to Radio 4 first thing I heard was This bad way to start the morning, although not as bad as they people in the plane.

Monday, July 01, 2002

Ok saw the most bizarre thing last night just after 24 had finished, two Scots in kilts, one with bagpipes and the other with a snare drum standing on a traffic island in the middle of Charring Cross Road, playing, really loud a quite funny, they got a crowd in quite a short time. One was wearing a Brazil T-Shirt just to top the look. Ever noticed how people treating you like your three can put you in a bad mood ?
Well the world cup is over and it's completely mad outside, you wouldn't know that the English hadn't won or even made it too the final, loads of people out on the street having fun, don't seem drunk or being arsely just being loud and having fun. Will have to see if this continues later into the day or not, I was going to take some pictures but the batteries in my camera were knackered and when I put new ones in the camera made funny nosies and Im not sure whether or not the film is used or not, needless to say I want a digital camera much easier to deal with. I've had a couple of ideas for new projects soooo hopefully I will get round to updating my site about them in the not to distant future. Hmmm spoke to David this morning, he said the All Blacks played so badly on the weekend that they were booed (spelling ?) off at the end of the game, I think its going to be a few years before they are any good, boo suck, although they did win so I guess that is the important thing.

Thursday, June 27, 2002

Ok I finally gave in and we are rebuilding the server, boo suck, however Rich found a cool dtd for documentation that we are going to try at work, its called Doc Book, there are also these two links a Source forge project and O'Reilly Book.

Saw this at the bottom of a news group posting thought it was funny and very true: "Hell, if you understood everything I said, you'd be me!", that is all.
Arrgggh my archive has taken a wander, hopefully a publish will fix it, thanks Jane. Havent blogged for a bit. Haven't had much positive to say, so don't say anything I think. However now I have started, had a party on friday which went well, Rich and Jane popped in for a bit which was cool haven't seen them in agggggggggggeessss. I've managed to bugger two servers at work by switching off iptables and rebooting, guess what switching them on again and rebooting doesn't help :(. I think that using ntsysv is not very cool, I assume Im missing something really don't wanna rebuild the servers. Good thing that came out of it, I now know how to do port redirection, as in from 80 to 5150, which is what I was trying to do in the first place. Moo

Thursday, June 20, 2002

Ok so Neela just sent me this Link someone please tell me its a joke please. Its also Here

Rich T is talking about trying to set up a server co-op similar to hatters that Rich D is a part of for some of us, sounds like an exciting idea. It would be nice to have a little server to call home. Also watched the second half of the South Korea \ Italy match, needless to say I wouldn't want to be the ref for the next four years cos he is soooooooooooooooooo marked for death. I do think the Italians did a couple of dives they should have been carded for, but the thing tottie got sent off for was a joke so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, hope the guy doesn't ref anymore games, err ever.

Subtle"I made up my mind that Hussein needs to go," Bush responded. "That's about all I'm willing to share with you." Pressed, Bush said, "The policy of my government is that he goes."
Ummmmmmm Yeah.

Monday, June 17, 2002

Just gone midnight and I heard a bell, I'd like to think its big ben, mainly because I can't think of any other big towers round here, and also so it would be kinda cool. Bummer about Ireland and brilliant about England, so its kinda Even really (World cup for those of you who like in a cave). He he just wrote cake instead of cave, well I thought it was funny. started on Keep It Safe until people tell me what to do with Cave, I've made on of two changes at home that I will upload later. Righto.

Went and saw Attack of the Clones with Emma and Iain tonight err well its last night now, but you get the drift. I think it was Terminator X of Public Enemy who once said Don't believe the hype all I have to say is Damn Straight. The graphics are totally amazing I didn't realize they had come so far, however it seems to be at the expense of acting and plot. I dunno everyone I had spoken to before seeing the movie said that Yoda was the man, he was cool, but even some of his lines seemed a bit tacky. Ahhhh well one more and we are finished. Unsure what to do this weekend whether to make a start on Keep it Save, another game, finish Save or extend Save, maybe I'll invest some quality time with my PS2 :). Oooooooo one more thing about the Clone Wars, it had at least 3 New Zealanders in it wayhey. Hmmm possible parting thought, maybe it was called attack of the Clones because they ripped so much from the first 3 movies, I dunno. Ok just got a link from Richy Rich, I haven't included the link he sent me but here is another similar
Judge Optimized for Nocturnal Observation

Thursday, June 13, 2002

Went out for some drinks lastnight with Emma, we were only going for a few and ended up there till closing both felt pretty shit today, woke up for the football, though I must confess after making breakfast and getting back into bed to watch the game I just went back to sleep for the second half :). So a quiet night tonight, cooked another thing out of my Donna Hay book Off the Shelf, it was piss easy, didn't take long and tasted great, that book is brilliant. Can Sleep at the moment so apart from surfing a bit I've been reading the latest Wired, its such a brillant read, I love it, hmmm will give examples when I'm more away. Yay Ash is back tomorrow, bastard has been on holiday in (I think) southern America, so will be relaxed and browner. Righto bedtime.

Wednesday, June 12, 2002

Waahey Ireland won !!!!

Tuesday, June 11, 2002

Brilliant article on legacy unit testing, its a pdf, However I'm not sure about null classes I can see where they could be handy, but also where it could be abused.
This is excelon and the company I work for
Crap day at work, started one thing, had one server go tits up with a failed power supply and on just ASR for what I can see is not reason. Started work on new functionality on a site I haven;t worked on before and instead found an error that I can't get to the bottom of and a small error in another site I had been working on.
Just finished watching the BBC 1 Ten O'Clock news, the Americans have someone in custody for thinking about building a dirty bomb. This is where you blow up a normal bomb with a load of radioactive material, so you just get the fallout not the big nuke explosion. All I see is a government that has found a scapegoat for the pressure it is currently feeling. The man they currently have is an ex-gang member, and he can get hold of nuclear waste or whatever nuclear crap he wishes to use in the bomb, the explosives for the normal bit of the bomb, then get it to Washington and set it off. I dunno it seems like a Government trying to build fortress America, which in turn alienates its citizens against others and get out of a tight spot in the press.

Hmmmmmmm, plugin for Eclipse Jalopy Java Source Code Formatter Beautifier Pretty Printer, Takes about 5 seconds to get working and looks like you can then spend 5890 hours fine tuning, hmmmmmmm Jalopy. Oh and this is my first "Blog This!" post lets see how it goes.
Mwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa blogger/blospot is/was broken, what do you do, It's not like you can blog about it. Boo. Bayliss made it two out of two again this weekend, not sure what Edwards can do, Xaus got past him but is looks like he got Team orders to back off. Oh well maybe next year it will be a bit closer.

Sunday, June 09, 2002

I'm a bit lost at where to move with Cave, I know I need to tidy my code and get a proper license and get a copy of the source on the site as well, but in terms of making it better I'm a bit lost. I thought about colour but so far only one emulator I have supports colour and its an Emulator only you can't buy the phone so I dont see the point at present. Righto half an hour till the superbikes, I think I may go look at writing some tests and making the code looking a bit prettier.

Saturday, June 08, 2002

Well England won, sounds like a small riot / footy match outside the office, inside it's quite quiet and people are trying to pretend to work. That is all.

Friday, June 07, 2002

Ok total Twilight Zone today about 3 seconds after putting up my last blog I get an email from Jane saying the link is incorrect. Ok that is silly once you type it, at the time it was werid.
Next Stopped smoking the other day, ummm tuesday I think, it was, can't remember when I had my last one. Sometime round 7 ish or something, Emma and I had been down for the fly over so it must have been round 7ish.
Okay as a side note, feeling pissed at the moment, so listen to Some soothing DanZig and would it play in my CD player nooooooooo, put it in the DVD player XP pops up a window saying " so ya want me to play da CD or what ?"

Mwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Anyway, giving up is somewhat different to what I remember when I last gave up nearly 9 years ago. Needless to say I think if I had to sit next to a junkie for more than about 3 minutes, they would get up in disgust and part saying "Your fucked up", Got headaches, totally nill attention spam and a very vivid imagination at the moment, which seems to be liking paranoia at present. Anyway folks either don't start or live in a small cave with no people for 3 months when you give up, preferably with about 16 tons of your favourite booze.
Good one, we lost our pipe at work yesterday to our servers from noon till about 19:30, it took that long to trace the problem to a "mid point exchange" fault. What is going to happen because of it? Fuck all thats what.
I cant get Eclipse to work with our cvs setup, I assume its just me being silly, but still its pissing me off.

Wednesday, June 05, 2002

Back at work after the jubilee weekend spent in Normandy with Emmas folk, Claire and Al, Caught the train to Dover on Saturday morning, with Claire and Al, all four of us with various states of hangover. At Dover we met up with Peter and Joy where we all piled in to Peters Jag, needless to say Im now eternally grateful for being tall as this meant I got to sit in the front. We had a couple of hot, sunny days and a couple of hot rainy days, all in all nice weather, with the most amazing lighting storm on Sunday night, it was very weird a lot of the time there was lighting without thunder. It was between clouds rather than a cloud and the group, very freak. What other randomness occurred, we all went to the Benedictine Museum and some cliffs on the Monday and over a couple of f-off big bridges which were cool. Emma, Al and I flew back on Tuesday from Caen airport, which was brilliant, two check in desks and room for about 2 plane loads of passengers, ultra small and ultra clean, Very cool. By the time Emma and I got back to the flat we both collapsed and watched the Jubilee on the BBC, what a load of crap, the commentator was shite, I guess its hard to ramble on about nothing for 8 hours, anyway, Emma dragged me down to the Mall to see what was going on and catch the fly over. Masses of people, cool fly over, and all in all a relaxed atmosphere.

Saturday, June 01, 2002

Interesting article about Java and open source development, although they don't mention Eclipse which seems a bit silly. On a completey different note check out This, its what happens if you go for one too many beers, its a joint Rich T, Jono idea.

Friday, May 31, 2002

Ok, Ive made a start at my website , Bit of an arse that Im not going to have time to work on either the site or any of my MIDlet stuff till next week. Oh the YAY side of things we have just relaunched the archive at work and so far fingers crossed it seems stable.

Wednesday, May 29, 2002

It would appear that the English government has decided to mimic blackadder and apoint a Darling in place of buyers.
Went to a evening put on by the Friends of Imperial College at the Science Museum with Emma tonight. It was a private showing of the Human Body at the Science Museum IMAX cinema, with a talk by the producer and several academics from Imperial afterward. The movie was brilliant. It was my first time at an IMAX cinema and once again I learned some more about something not to do with computers. The talks, and the question / answer session was also interesting. The producer spoke about how the movie was made, which was cool. I think I got more out of the evening than Emma, because she works in the field.
OK and on a completely different note, I was thinking about previous lives early, and thought that there are now more people alive than were ever alive before [1]. Anyway how could there be previous lives if there are more people alive now than have ever lived in history [1] . I though maybe previous lives could be from other creatures and seeing as there are a load of extinct creatures and small creatures we have managed not to wiped out, they could come from. Just a thought, I think I've just come up with Nirvana or at least the cycle of karma, Oh well.

[1] Crap explanation email if you wanna know I mean.
Some people are funny, isn't he a big girl.

Tuesday, May 28, 2002

Emma sent me this link, looks as though Linux has just been released for the PS2 in Europe, sounds interesting, I'm tempted to get it to have a play, I think I may wait till others have it and we can see how much Sony has crippled it or at least access to the hardware.
Ok, only been using Eclipse for a couple of hours so far. Even so it has some funky new features like, organizing your imports, removes unnecessary imports, suggests ones that are missing and narrows the scope if you put .*. Also has a quick fix option that attempts to fix your code if there is anything wrong with it. However possibly the bees knees is the Junit support, F Brilliant, already found a bug I had no idea existed AND its a piece of piss to set up. Brilliant !!!
Ok something I forgot to addd about the wedding was the high number of napkins that got set on fire at our table, it was amazing youd be looking round the room and there would be a small fire on the table and the people round it lost in conversation, well I thought it was a bit funny. I installed the latest stable build of Eclipse
at home over the weekend, and its about 58 Billion times better than it used to be, come on release 2. Funny though I decided to try it at work and went to look for the latest stable build, I clicked strangely enough on the Stable Build link and was greeted with a load of big red crosses, DOH ! oh well got an early version so wahoo wahoo.

Sunday, May 26, 2002

Went to a wedding yesterday for one of Emmas cousins in Haywards Heath, it was really cool, in a little village church. Got to meet some of Emmas rellies, who were cool.
Just watched the first race of the World super bikes, completely mad bastards, they are racing at silverstone in about 4 feet of water, Bayliss managed to drop it twice, once while leading and then again coming through the pack and still finished in the top ten. I've just switched over to see the beginning of the F1, not sure if I can be arsed watching after the last race bullshit.
Jesus Christ the guy below our flat must to totally deaf , I can hear his TV clearer than ours, why are people so unconsiderate ?

Thursday, May 23, 2002

Gotta love people, started to look at Ant to build my J2ME projects last night,ya know reading the ant docs and pissing about nothing too serious. I was just about to leave work and what do I find an article[1] on Suns wireless site about it, Brill. Clare and Al[2] are over for dinner tonight so I wont get to play with Ant till either late tonight or tomorrow, boo, although it will be cool to catch up and have a natter.

[2] Emmas sister and her boyfriend.
So we are moving our servers from our building to our head office, because they have a better server room, with better air con, cleaner power, a better network setup and dedicated people looking after everything. Brilliant we think, 24/7/365, however they say noooooooo not even CO-LO people give you that[1], this seeded doubt in my mind that we wouldnt be able to run upstairs to our servers if anything wrong and that they would be trapped an hour away and we would never be able to get access to them.
Then today one of the other developers gets a call from a tech guy asking if we really need Fast Ether Channeling for our server as they will only have 3 ports left in there switches if we do, and that its not really necessary to do this as we have redundant servers, Mwaaaaaaaaaa god only knows what level of service we will end up with once the servers are live.

[1] They seem to think that if you pay someone 250K PA to look after your servers, the providers will take the money and laugh at you.

Wednesday, May 22, 2002

Well, good news and bad news, have just got a Flat Panel Monitor[1] at work that you can pivot, it seems clear. Being able to have your monitor in portrait is very cool, however we will see if it is just a new toy fad or not. However on the downside, I got an email from Mum today and our dog was put down last night, which is sad, but he was 17 and not doing to well so I guess its all for the best, I just thought I would get to see him again, hopefully none of the other oldies will croak before I have a chance to go home.

I started reading From Beirut to Jerusalem[1] by Thomas Friedman and it so seems like a good book, I've also started writing an ant[2] build file for my J2ME[3] project, I'm constantly amazed at how much software is out there for J2ME, and its all free. I think I now have all the tools I had for J2SE[4] wahoo. Have you noticed there appears to be an inverse correlation between the price of software and how many bugs / features it has ? Free software seems to run fast and bug free and applications you pay for seem to run slow and be riddled with bugs, at work we recently gave up on our F expensive XML Store and have starting using Lucene [5] to index our content and its soooooooo fast, easy to use AND has brilliant support wahoo.

Righto I'm now one of the Blog Collective.
