Another quick recap.
Japan was cold and not quite as weird as I remember, but still fun.
Opera in the Domain was very very hot and a lot of fun - Oh It was Tosca. Ummm Not sure what else has been happening.
Oh thats right I saw GT 4 ( Gran Turismo 4 in Japan, it's been out since the end of December. We have to wait till bloody March - grrrr. The breadth of games in Japan for the PS2 was a lot deeper than I have seen in either Oz or the UK.

ok I've almost given up trying to find time to blog about what I've been up to, so here is a concise version.

Been : Brisbane for a Wedding, home for Christmas, Rotorua for the weekend with Emma for a mud wrap.

Listening to: Edith Piaf and James Brown ( not to together )

Reading:
1) Test-Driven Development By Example - By Kent Beck.

Only about 1/3 of the way through it - excellent book, suggested to me by Cayne - well worth getting.

2) Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond.

Only about - ok not even through the prologue and already enjoying it.

Playing:

Killzone on the PS2, good game although, bugger me if a mouse and keyboard isn't a better way to play FPSs.

Seen:

We went to Cosi Fan Tutti at the Opera House. It was brilliant, must try and go see more opera.\
Work:

While trying no to jinx myself, all seems ok, some of the shine has worn off. But the immediate people I work with are still and excellent bunch and I'm still learning so all is well.

Thoughts for the New Year::

a) Learn a new language - spoken, not geek.

b) Go somewhere interesting.

c) Try and get to Java one.

So after a disaster there are always people asking for money, what I think is amazing is a couple of people handing over large wads of cash, Sandra Bullock has given a Million and Michael Schumacher 10 Million - Amazing. As usually musicians are talking about putting out another shite CD so people can buy it and the musicians don't have to give up any of there money - Bastards.
So go the Bullock and the Schumacher and up the musicians.

So the new format of the Times is quite good, It's small enough that it can be mailed to you from nice people and also that you can lose it on the kitchen table and have a panic attack.
It is not as much of a shock as I thought it would be there still seems to be loads of content and unlike some local papers here it has original content - Huzzah.
Seeing as this worked so well, I hear that the 100 pound note is much bigger than the 100 dollar note. I could compare them if someone were to send me a wad of unmarked non-sequential notes *cough, cough*.
Christmas is very close, buggery, at least that means GT4 will be out soon and I'll be able to buy it - Huzzah Huzzah

Sunday, November 14, 2004

If there were anymore ads on australian television they could do away with the silly interrupting programs. It must be getting close to 50 50 adverts content - BASTARDS

Sunday, November 07, 2004

Everyone should have blogs, ok so not everyone, everyone I know should. It's a pisser not know what people are up to. Even if it's just the mindless crap that I blog. I'm getting to the point where i may well start ringing people when I want to know what they are up to. *cough* now while I do already do this - I may start doing it when I'm sober and therefore remember what they say.
Also this will mean that it will be early when I call, mwa mwa mwa ha ha ha ha.

Hmm our next door neighbour is smoking a clove ciggie, god they smell good.

Saturday, October 30, 2004

while I'm more of a Guardian person, I used to read the Times, and I'm not sure if I'm happy with the change in format. *cough* someone could send me a copy * cough, cough* so I could see for myself * cough cough*
Christ the end of the broadsheet, what next ? Baaaaaaa no happy no happy at all.

Tuesday, October 19, 2004

Went to gold class on saturday and saw the new Tom Cruise movie, erm Collateral, good movie. There is a new version of Adium out. It is wonderful yummy interface, . Just when you thought that an app was pretty much where it was going it seems to get better, huzzah. If you're using an Apple and aren't using Adium for Im you're mad, not bad for a bunch of duck perverts :D

Downside to developing with laptops - they are small enough to throw round the room when you get pissed off with them. No I have yet, got close tho. Baaaaaaaa yams yams are the future I tell you.

Wednesday, October 13, 2004

Meant to have been 37 today, thats about 10 degrees to much. Although it does mean we have started on Pimms, not really sure if that is a good idea or not.

Tuesday, October 12, 2004

Laptops rock, blogginb from bed, yes I'm sad, I'm also comfortable.
Hmmm so Howard got in, no great surprise there, more of a surprise will be finding someone who voted for him, almost like finding an English person who voted for Thatcher. Howard getting in doesn't scare me that much, I think it was probably the best thing for the country, while Latham would have been an interesting experiement, not sure I would have wanted to be here.
Something that scares the crap out of me it the distinct possiblity that Bush will return for another term, god help us if that happens, or should that be god help everyone in the non western world.

Tuesday, September 28, 2004

How much does this rock, the Virgin Galatic site doesn't have any start dates though :( and Branson thinks there are only 3000 people who would be interested, hoping he doesn't mean "Rich Enough" :|.
Ekk Ok it's 100,000 pounds some people read the articles :D. Well its a lot but not _THAT_ much :S.

Monday, September 06, 2004

A fun but witless use of google.

Sunday, September 05, 2004

I was going to blog about how good my phone is, but I've just read someone else's review so go and read it
here. The battery life on my replacement phone is amazing, I'm now getting 4 days out of one charge, yes very very low use :(.

I Almost have my powerbook sorted as well, everything is good.

Monday, August 30, 2004

Ok a quick note we are back from our holiday to Port Douglas, I got my phone replaced while I was away and the new one seems to work, and I am writing this on my new powerbook. wahoo wahoo I finally got one. Righto more of an update later when I have time.
Hmmmmmm this is so nice to use.

Friday, August 20, 2004

Got a new phone, its a Nokia 7610. So far it's been a bit of adjusting I've always had series 40 phones , series 60 are a little different. The only thing I'm currently worried about is battery life seems crap , I've had to charge it twice since monday ( its Friday ). Anyway it looks cool and has a 1 megapixel camera.Link

Tuesday, July 27, 2004

Great Headline. We've been busy, that's why I'm slack and not blogging enough. Saw Pretty dirty things on the weekend, brilliant. Also saw King Arthur on Thursday at Gold Class Greater Union, movie: action - great, dialog - kinda shite. Think it's worth paying the extra money, only 40 seats, means there are only 38 other people that can piss you off, seats recline and they bring you food and drinks.
So apart from that work is going well and I've almost decided which #$%& laptop to buy.

Friday, July 09, 2004

A guy at work introduced me to bash.org today, wasn't a very productive day :D.

Wednesday, June 23, 2004

Emma has been back for a week, is brown and had a wonderful time, has loads of cool photos.
On a geek note, I've moved to using Mandrake and Window Maker at work, it's early days yet. Well I guess its early day yet, seeing as it all got set up today :D. However I still think it's the only desktop to have a chance against OS X. Oooooooooo and it's Stephs birthday today, happy birthday Steph.
Hmmm if anyone has suggestions for a PC Laptop, give me a shout, I need to be able to develop on it, so sort of a desktop replacement that is very lite. Money is sort of no option - if I like it enough.

Saturday, June 05, 2004

Ok this has been sitting round for ages waiting for me to finish it and its never going to happen so here are some random thoughts.

* David over for the weekend

* Firebird / Fire Fox - Thunderbird
Movement of Applications from huge to small and lovely Outlook / Mozilla / IE to Firefox , thunderbird and gmail.

* Eclipse 3.0 M9., has built in ssh key generation and amazing cvs integration and everything runs in the background. Oh yes.

Ok just updated a few things on blogger, it asked me for my date of birth. I had to enter the month first, baaaaaaaaaaaaaa after getting language and location right they drop it when it comes to dates. If anybody can explain why oh why ANYONE would put the month first , baaaaaaaaaaa. OOooo OOOo lets put the MIDDLE bit of information first, then the first second and we will leave the last bit of information last.

Hmmm in addition to this, I've just enabled blogger commenting - I'm leaving it on because I'm lazy, but I looks pants.

Tuesday, June 01, 2004

Wanna know what the weather is like in Sydney ? Have a look here.

Monday, May 24, 2004

Finally finished the 3rd Raymond Chandler book in The Big Sleep book, bloody amazing.
Also the final milestone for Eclipse 3.0 is out. Looks brilliant and the now have code folding wahoo wahoo. We may start using it at work, Intellij 4 has to many issues, such as synchronization times with the file system, and hanging for no apparent reason.
Went to a British Council thing on Friday for the Sydney Writers Festival to hear Alexei Sayle, Louis de Bernières and Adrian Mitchell. I think I got more from Louis de Bernières and Adrian Mitchell than Alexei Sayle, who seems pretty much as you would expect. The British Council put on an amazing evening at a cool venue looking over Sydney harbor.
Some how managed to end up at Harry Café De Wheels for a pie at the end of the night, bloody long queue, good pies though.

Saturday, May 15, 2004

Considering all that is going on in the world you would think people would learn the difference between say shite and shiite or even shi'ite , which Emma tells me is the correct way.

Thursday, May 13, 2004

The new version of blogger is soooooooooooooo nice, not what I'm here for though. Check out this slashdot post about people in Barcelona getting RFID chips so they don't have to carry credit cards all the information is in the chip. Woooo bring it on.

Saturday, May 08, 2004

Emmas book is out!

Monday, May 03, 2004

I've been using FitNesse at work for a few things. Anyway I was looking round for a way of implementing something in a better way and found a supporting site by one old of my university lectures, cool.

Thursday, April 22, 2004

Bloody hell it's been a while since I blogged I keep thinking about it, must not being getting round to it.
So what the hell is up with toilet paper and tissues ? Loo paper is scented and tissues are not, does this not seem just odd to anyone else ?
I've signed up with a google mail account to see what its like, so no mail, although I have only had it 2 minutes :D.

Tuesday, April 13, 2004

Finished the Big Sleep, brilliant. We had a good easter - went to a National Park north of sydney on friday with Zoe and Vinnie, amazing weather, lovely park and another great BBQ by Vinnie. Then for a change we went round to theres for a BBQ that night :D. Saturday Emma and I went to the Easter show, not bad, but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to many people and most of the were REALLY REALLY hick, like called cleetus hick. The other two days we lay round the house eating. I did a small easter egg hunt for Emma which she thought was silly, but still wandered round the house to find :D.
Ahhh and I'm blogging from bed with Emmas laptop, it's been nice, I've been reading and Emma has been surfing round for a new camera.

Thursday, April 08, 2004

Simon, has just reminded me via I’m that I was going to keep up to date with what I was reading. I finished “The man who ate everything”, it was good if you’re into food, hmm probably if you’re not as well. I found it to be gonzo journalism like - a la PJ
O’Rourke- replacing the sex, drugs and politics with food (NO this doesn’t detract from the over all enjoyment of the book ) .
I’ve started reading “The Big Sleep” by Raymond Chandler which is fucking brilliant, although it takes a few pages to get used to the fact it isn’t a cliché, that it’s the real thing. Amazing to read, it’s talking too long, only reading an hour or so every few nights, baa.

If this doesn't make sense I'll look it tomorrow.
Looks like the Intellij Vs Eclipse decision has been made for me and we are going to use Intellij I must admit its one of the more pleasant decisions that has been made in a work environment that I haven’t agreed with 100%. Then again I wasn’t sure which I wanted to use and while I prefer Eclipse ( Its CVS integration is about 901234812390480291348 years ahead of Intellij) I think Intellij is going to be the right decision for our team so huzzah.
On the non geek front, I’ve started buying music again, so the RIAA can relax. I started off with the usual small Jono select of music, Chet Baker, Eric B & Rakim, Verve Unmixed and ColdPlay – A Rush of blood to the head. The ColdPlay CD is fucking amazing very refreshing; Eric B & Rakim is good although there is still an elusive remix CD of Paid in full I keep on missing. The Other two CDs I have no idea about yet :D.
Geek Stuff, I'm currently looking at Intellij 4 and Eclipse 3 M8. Both seem a bit unstable with standard memory, eclipse seems to have sorted itself out with an increase in max heap size, and I think this will sort Intellij as well. I've always been in the eclipse camp but now I have the chance to choose. I'm unimpressed with the cvs integration in Intellij is pants and the new cvs integration in version of 3 of eclipse is wonderful it backgrounds itself while doing large jobs so you can get on with whatever.
On the down side eclipse wont compile code whose package structure doesn't match the directory stucture. Now while this sounds good in theory I'm working with god knows how many other develops scattered all over the place who all do things a little differently soooooooooo it would be nice for the #@$%#@$% code to compile - its also no part of the Java Spec, so why not just make it an option Eclipse dudes. *Cough* if anyone does know how to make this work under eclipse please tell me.

New Job is going well, been having fun and enjoying the last of summer over the last few weekends, will attempt to blog more. Only 20 more sleeps till the start of the MotoGP season wooooooooooo, only 20 more sleeps till the fun and games of figuring out how to make time to watch the races boooooooooo. Yes I've changed this yes i did get taken on an aprils fools joke baaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Wednesday, March 17, 2004

Ash just sent me this , class.

Monday, March 15, 2004

Ahhhhhh joy, looks like I will be able to get the Guardian again, dunno why this has taken so long, after looking at the demo it would appear someone has figured out how to export from Quark to Pdf, Huzzah.

Sunday, March 14, 2004

Hmmmm Thirteen Days tonight and On the Beach lastnight, bring on the happy films, woooooooooo. Jesus, bad movie combination.
Hmmmmm I upgraded browsers from Mozilla Firebird 0.7 to Firefox 0.8, a version increment and a name change, and well it sucks. the browser has gone from a zip to a windows installer and from working to not. Firefox _Never_ fully loads a page and seems to have a great deal of trouble with finding small sites like the bbc, baaaaaaa.

Sunday, February 29, 2004

In a desperate attempt to keep track of what I have read, here is the following: I've just finished the Philip Pullman Trilogy His Dark Materials, rating 4/5 to 5/5, better than Harry Potter, hmmm also a little different, the only thing I would say is the last book seems to drag a bit.
And I'm just about to start Jeffrey Steingarten the man who ate everything, so erm I have no idea what its like :D.

Tuesday, February 24, 2004

Hey Hey, it's Grey Tuesday.

Monday, February 23, 2004

Good weekend, we drove north to Patonga and camped at a really beautiful, but very noisy site on the water. On Saturday we went on a guided kayak tour with Southern Adventures, we did a half day trip, which was four hours, which turned out to be a good length – we were both buggered by the end of it. Well worth it, loads of fun.
After that we drove further up the coast to Port Stephens and stayed at a place called Koloa Shores, much quieter, but not as nice, much more into making money, I think the cabins would be good.
Sunday we went on a dolphin cruise, with Moon Shadow, managed to see a couple of pods of dolphins and had a relaxed wander round the bay. The cool thing was seeing a couple of hammerheads just below the surface.
After the cruise we drove home via some huge sand dune - Stockton beach then through the Hunter valley, beautiful and filled with vineyards.

Thursday, February 19, 2004

Saw the Fishers this morning for a quick coffee, amazing how far some people will go for a cup of Joe :D. Richard sent me this, two things : one - Kuro5hin is still round I thought it had gone under and two, Microsoft have comments like anyone else.

Saturday, February 14, 2004

Just got back from Return of the King, fan-fucking-tastic.
Who else thinks Pippin and Merry are the Ant and Dec of Middle Earth ? - Also this just in - 70% of ppl can't tell which is which.

SmileyFaceMasterMind or SFMM

Or another way to waste your time - We all know the rules to Master Mind :
  • black pip for right colour, wrong hole

  • white pip for right colour right hole

  • maybe no pip for wrong colour, wrong hole.

  • Ok so I’m not 100 % on the rules – we won’t let that stand in our way. Replace white, black and missing with :), :| and :( and the colours with other smiley faces of your choice.
The only bit I’m not 100% on how to stop the erm master not cheating the mind – by lying about what 4 faces they had choosen.
Right I’m glad I shared that with you.

    Wednesday, February 11, 2004

We have just had the most amazing storm go over the top of us, pretty much continual lightening - most cool.

    Tuesday, February 10, 2004

Wow, I'm becoming really slack at this. Ummm I was in New Zealand for a week about a week ago, was good to catch up with a few people and have a look round. Need a chance to spend a few weeks at home.
Went to Many on Saturday had a cool day snorkeling and then boozing with Zoe and Vinney. Then on Sunday went on the zig zag railway with Emma and then caught up with Zoe and Vinney again and we drove round the Blue Mountains.
Watched Bend it like Beckham last night top film can't believe I haven't seen it sooner – very cool. Also watched the league of shite pants gentleman - needless to say it wasn’t as good as I thought. There should be a law against Sean Connery working in bad movies. Oh and Neela has just sent me this which makes this and this much more understandable. Much like Guinness, good things come to those who wait.

    Friday, January 23, 2004

Hmmm first the beagle and now rover, maybe we shouldn't be sending mans best friend to mars, also I wonder if all the people who took the piss out of beagle are going to take said piss out of rover.

    Wednesday, January 21, 2004

    So how stupid are you?

    Tuesday, January 20, 2004

I dunno cartoons can be too close to the truth.

    Friday, January 09, 2004

I'm sorry but this is fucked, if you are unable to fly in one countries airspace shouldn't everyone ground/ban you ?.

    Sunday, January 04, 2004

Jesus people will really write any shite they want. I thought papers had editors to check they weren’t publishing complete crap – apparently not.

    Tuesday, December 30, 2003

Still alive, great birthday and christmas, more soon.

    Thursday, December 18, 2003

ok so Love Actually, doesn't come out in Oz, until the 26th, now given the theme and content of the movie, does ANYone else think this is fucking silly timing?

    Tuesday, December 16, 2003

We went and saw Love Actually, great movie - funny and you leave feeling all warm and fuzzy. When we got home we were just in time to watch some fat arse jump on Emma’s car, nice dents (No more warm fuzzy feeling either). Ah don't you love fat drunk people; there should either be a law against them or a license so you can shoot them. Fat Fucker hope his heart stops or something, I mean really I must so have Karma in the bank. If I do I wanna spend some of it - Baa.
Hmmm also, I looked at the Calendar today and there is only a week left of me being young, after this week it's all down hill. I'll need a walking frame and adult nappies. Then again at least I wont have to get up to use the loo or worry about falling over when I drink too much - Silver lining I guess.

    Tuesday, December 09, 2003

Doesn’t it peeve you when sites don’t have RSS feeds, it’s beginning to feel strange to have to go to a site to see if its been updated. Not just have a spinning cube in the corner of the screen – I use Feed Reader. I’m also aware that I don’t have a feed either before anyone comments.
I have been reading in the general press and – I was going to say industry, but it’s more geek blogs – about bluejacking. I’ve been hearing more and more about Bluetooth in the last few months. I was interested in it about 3 years ago but then only the top of the line phones had it and umm, nothing else – so I lost interest.
Bluetooth in the news again has once again sparked my interest – so I wandered off to see if I could now write Bluetooth enabling applications for phones and the like. Low and behold I can, but no phones yet exist, and I’d be writing for one of about 3 emulators – all I which I would have to pay for and none of which seem to be backed by the major Phone Companies. So it looks like its back to sleep for Jono in terms of Bluetooth and Java hopefully not for 3 years this time.

    Tuesday, December 02, 2003

Relaxing weekend, went to the Australian Reptile park on Sunday, the park is MUCH better than website, got to say hello to a Koala and see a load of other animals some even reptiles :D. Good fun even if we did seem to be one of the only non kid ridden groups.

    Thursday, November 27, 2003

This would be funny if I hadn't happened to me before.

    Tuesday, November 25, 2003

Melbourne was good, loads of cool bars, was good to catch up with Tom and Julia. Rugby was good last weekend, although both of us felt like crap on Sunday.

    On a different subject

So you have decided to implement some API/ Specification with a few of your friends / co-workers / script kiddies [delete non-applicable].
I have a few small requests:

    1. Unless you plan to finish the fucking thing in a timely fashion - just go back to looking at porn or something.

    2. Every time you implement a feature that either

      • Makes your product non wildly standard,

      • Hinders you from finishing the core functionality,

Cut off at LEAST one of your fingers - I'll leave it up to you how many you remove – it should be inline with how much you have fucked up your product. - think of it as a primitive priority tracker.

    3. Documentation– assume that whoever is going to use your product isn’t say YOU and maybe didn’t write the fucking thing and may not know what you were thinking when you only write half a sentence.

    4. If you get bored easily with documentation - examples are good - they at least show the poor bastard trying to use your product the twisted way your mind works – also cut off a few fingers for good measure.

    Thursday, November 13, 2003

Had a good weekend with Emmas folks, loads of people over for a house warming and then Peters birthday on Sunday. Managed to see some Oz wild life that wasn't road kill which was cool, we are back in not very sunny Sydney now. On a completely different subject isn't it interesting how roaches can withstand a nuclear blast, being frozen in ice, roach spray and all manner of other bad shit™, but not a small amount of force exerted in the right direction.

    Thursday, November 06, 2003

Oh for the love of sweet Jesus today is toys day. First I find a slot car set I MUST have NOW
and then I find out that SSX3 is out.

    Saturday, November 01, 2003

Have just finisehd watching scratch with Emma, baaa beyond words - Qbert is a god.

haiku - too late for athens

    Maybe toronto

    sorry

It at least makes you think before you abuse people :D
Went to see Madame Butterfly last night at the Opera House, it was good. This morning we went for a swim at the Bondi Icebergs salt water pools, nice thing to do first thing in the morning.

    Wednesday, October 22, 2003

Don't read if you haven't seen Kill Bill
Just got back from Seeing Kill Bill vol1, the dialog is well over the top, pulp fiction not hamlet, remember, I liked it over all I think I will let it settle before saying much more, apart from maybe the sound track was also a bit OTT is places - still overall I liked it. more later
In other news Emma brought an iPod, she has only had it for a day so I will hold back from the full apple products are godly. So far it seen pretty piss easy to use, it got me to install itunes even though I'm a) not on a mac b) don't have an ipod (Yet for both I'm hoping). Funny after Emma saying dont' need 40 GB, don't need 40GB she started ripping CDs about 10 into she says " I should have got the bigger one".
So retards of the world unite and move to Australia and plan online music sales. So installed iTunes thinking ooo ooo online music, but no, only available in the States. Email apple - no response, ring apple - “ No – check the website it might happen, but Australia has different yadda yadda yadda”, zzzzzzzzz. Look online - Telstra has ONE fucking label signed and may have something out before Christmas, a couple of other labels are also thinking about, baaaaaaaaaa. Kids if you wanna stop people nicking your music make it available online, here think about this “Oooo I really wanna listen to <insert favorite band of the day/> shall I fuck about looking on whatever has replaced napster and Kazaa for the full version of a song that is labeled right or should I spend 4 fucking seconds and a dollar and download it from itunes “ Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa - read this

    Tuesday, October 21, 2003

So Apple.com.au doesn't go anywhere but www.apple.com.au does, ummmmm apple has good usability - but in this case pants pants pants.
Suckage, the Alpha was / is a great processor, used to kick arse.

    Monday, October 20, 2003

We have just had a fan-bloody-tastic weekend, even if it did get off to a shaky start. We had planned to go out for a few quiet drinks with friends, but as things do, it got a little out of hand and we both woke up feeling like crap - not even greasy egg sarnees helped. Anyway we managed to drag ourselves out of the house and up to the hunter valley to Opera in the Vineyards. Really cool idea, loads of great food and booze and you take everything else. We lay round listening to the music, eating and drinking. On the Sunday we drove round the Hunter Valley a bit more then headed home, with what appeared to be everyone else in Sydney, only took about 1/2 hour longer than I thought it was going to so the traffic wasn't too bad. Anyway go to the Hunter Valley, very beautiful.

    Wednesday, October 15, 2003

So the squirrel from the bench, catbert and bofth, have nothing on Foxtel program director, or whatever their evil title maybe. So Sunday moto GP is on, and they show the 125 and the 250 races and Im just getting ready for the main event and what happens, they switch to a replay of the Saturday RWC game between Italy and NZ, baa its a "$%#%$ replay, they then show the race delayed later that night which I miss. Then today the race is on and what happens they push it back so they can show Baseball, this I can almost understand because its live, however its still baseball, baaa evil evil evil I tell you, what was wrong with showing it live instead of bumping it so we can see 54 million rugby replays, arses.

    Friday, October 10, 2003

I can relate to this soooo much it scares me.

    Tuesday, October 07, 2003

I've just seen this f huge flying fox get chased round by a piss small bird, maybe a magpie, wasn't that big anyway, well not compaired to the flying fox. It would appear lardieness wont get you everywhere.
Holly shit PA did the bench, I'd so totally forgotten about the bench.

    Monday, October 06, 2003

And from the "For the love of sweet Jesus" Corner, Wilberto sent me this.
Well Sydney seemed to remember it is meant to be a sunny warm place on saturday, instead of a cold rainy shite hole. So we went over to manly to catch up with Zoe and Vinney who are back from there travels and take in the Manly Jazz Festival on so we lay round in the sun listening to jazz. We then erm went for an Indian as you do at the beginning of the night ( not a good idea by the way) then bounced round a few bars.

    Monday, September 29, 2003

So I meant to say something about the weekend instead of rant, so here we go. Saturday we were going to go for a walk round the north shore, but it was windy and not that hot (after being 25+ all week) so we went for a wander into town and there was a wine and food thing on in Hyde Park, lots of Yummy Food and good booze a very pleasant why to spend a Saturday. Then Saturday night we caught up with a Cousin that was over for the weekend, which was cool. It was good to catch up after not having seen him for 10 years. Sunday was pretty relaxed we went for a drive then mooched at home, with a small lets watch a crap movie interlude of watching About Schmidt. Slice of life movies interest me about as much as soaps, woo watch people going through all the unpleasant things you get to do, woo nothing unreal no escape, good use of my time. Also watched the first half of the Liverpool game, baa, I dont watch, they win, I do watch, they lose.
So incase you haven't heard its ok to be sexist and racist in New Zealand, just don't hit your kids or take drugs.
Why hasnt the arse been fired? In a country that is so overly politically correct I would have assumed calling someone a "cheeky darkie would have been grounds for dismissal, if he had called a Maori a cheeky darkie one assumes it may have been different however seeing as it was only the Secretary General of the United Nations - it is ok.
Well done Mr. Holmes New Zealand is once again in the world news because you are a twat and the people you work for have no spine.
ew Zealand, just don't hit your kids.

Hmmmmmm so our flat has this weird temperature differential, its never above about 15 degrees downstairs compaired to either upstairs or the outside world. Which leads me nicely into even if its about 25 and humid as a bastard outside as I have just found out I mean how can it be that different, we dont have double glazing, AC or any other temperature altering device. We have some freak heat sink of a living room, hmmm I'm thinking House or the school in Buffy, take your pick.

    Sunday, September 21, 2003

I just finished watching Once Upon a Time in China III, Brilliant. Good to see Jet Li in non Hollywood movies.

    Saturday, September 20, 2003

    Monday, September 15, 2003

I have now eatin in the rocks 3 times and two have been crimes against food, it is an evil place for tourists. How I ask you can you cock up scallops and pasta ? By making it taste about as interesting as cardboard, that is how the place we went on Saturday did it, Baaa.
So food rant over, Sunday was cool, we drove round in circles attempting to escape from road closure due to the Marathon, then finally got into the blue mountains and did a bit of walking. Great place even if they have closed the walk we wanted to do. This turned out to be a good thing as we did a couple of other shorter walker and felt totally buggered so god knows what would have happened if we had opted for the 5 hour walk. We also went on a scenic rail thing which was kinda cool, once agian I'll have a look for a link to it later.

Forgot to mention, Emma got a car the other day, its a 98 HyundaiExcel Gx, will attempt to find a picture of it later on.

    Thursday, September 11, 2003

Long time no blog, we have had about 54 million people stay with us over the last week or so, Tom and Julia arrived from the travels on there way to Melbourne. Then Emmas parents turned up a few days later and finally Dad for the weekend. It was good to see everyone and equally its now nice to have a house back to ourselves. Not much of a change on the job front apart from an offer for a job in London, good one.

    Monday, August 25, 2003

Well, we had a good weekend, hired a car and drove up to the blue mountains and the beaches north of Sydney, very cool weekend. So television may not be on the same level as it is in the UK, however a glimmer of hope is Enough Rope with Andrew Denton. We have just finished watching this weeks programme, it is a sign of a brilliant interviewer when he can address his guest about 10 minutes into the interview as a "seriously fucked up individual", then about 5 minutes after that then refer to their sole career is "crap". Ya don't get Paxman saying that to our Tony, now do ya :D.

So has anyone else noticed that clothes are like people, guys clothes, wash them hot, wash them cold, tumble dry them, line dry them, they don't care. Womens clothes, wash at 29.45 Degrees, slow spin, short massage, don't tumble dry, dry clean or don't line dry. Waft until dry with tissue paper. Arse is all I have to say. Ok while I'm here, I was going to listen to a CD just now, I use Winamp over Windows Media Player, personal taste and the fact that Media player doesn't just play the music, it does 58 million things but play the music. Anyway the CD in question is an "Enhanced CD", which means I get some crap quicktime presentation and no access to the Music except through Media player baaaaaaaaaa.

Grandfather died Sunday, buggery. Knew it was coming but still a bit of a shock, tend to think you will always get to see people one more time. Oh a more up beat note, I've been using feed reader for about a week or so, about the same time I found Martin Fowler had a feed to his blog/bliki.

    Wednesday, August 13, 2003

Had Fish and Merial stay last monday which was cool and err this monday caught up with a couple of folks over from london. I'm currently playing with Prevayler and Hibernate.

    Thursday, August 07, 2003

Is there anything better than discovering you haven't read Penny Arcade! for a few days, wooo. Dads birthday today, happy birthday Dad.

    Tuesday, August 05, 2003

Righto, I finally got round to putting a new version of Cave up, fixed a few bugs and added support for colour displays.

    Monday, July 28, 2003

We had Zoe and Vinney over for christmas on the weekend, had a huge christmas lunch, including pudding and presents, it was cool. Then on sunday we went to the SCG to watch the Sydney Swans(they play AFL), it was a good game. The AFL crowd seems a lot more relaxed than crowds at other types of footy, more family and a good time rather than getting trashed and kicking the crap out of each other. After the game we went for a few pints at the Lord Dudley, which calls itself an "Old English Style Pub", cool place.

    Friday, July 25, 2003

Ok, I think I want an Apple more than ever, I seem to get windows updates daily and every other day there is a new version of redhat. I'm aware that 'update often' is a wonderful coding mantra, but come on, so is writing stuff that works before releasing it, and possibly not just releasing it with a GUI tweak and slapping a new version on it.

    Thursday, July 24, 2003

Was having a nose round Rich T's site and found the kittens which I hadn't seen for a while, narf.

    Tuesday, July 22, 2003

Oooooooo I had forgotten about this, until now, I am reading Pattern Recognition by William Gibson. I have just read a review and agree that being set in the present scared me a bit, but so far it seems Brilliant, with the one exception that you can tell when someone writes about an area that they haven't lived in, like calling Camden, Camden Town, ummmm yeah, it is the correct name, but noone calls it that, do they, cough, cough, no.
So I know everyone who reads this loves bikes, so this and of course this will be of Immense interest to all of you. Go go Ducati.
We got back from the UK on sunday after getting pissed around by the BA staff at Heathrow, I mean how the hell can you just walk out without telling anyone, they should have all been fired. Anyway, Qantas were good and got our plane out about 4 hours late. So its ya ya Qantas, Booo Boooo BA, but then with the Rail network and the Tubes how they are one shouldn't expect the airways to be any better.
It was really good to catch up with everyone while we were over there, we are now missing everyone loads. I'm also missing Mr Dallaways new Lap top, As much as I dislike the idea of being tied to a sole company for my hardware and software, I really get sick of recompiling my kernel and reinstalling windows. I know that Apple isn't going to be the wonderous fix of all time, but I think it is a move in the right direction.
